- Simplicity is elegance—don't feel you have to fill every inch of space on a page.
- Every page begins with a topic and background, decorate it to create a theme
- Layers create interest; don't be afraid to mix colors and textures
- Papers and most embellishments must be acid-free and photo-safe
- Glues and adhesives, as well as journaling pens and markers must be acid-free and photo-safe
- Keep finished pages in clear page protectors made for scrapbook pages
- Not all pages have to contain a picture of a person, some simply commemorate an event or place
- Almost anything can become an embellishment or addition to a page
- Souvenirs can be sealed in special clear pockets to protect them
- Journaling can be on a tag, within an embellishment, or on the page itself, but do tell your story.
- Be adventurous and try new ideas; this work should reflect your personality
